Think tanks and academic institutions such as the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) and George Washington University (GWU) Global Gender Program have called upon PTP to provide expert briefings on trends in disaster response in the U.S. and around the world.
Center for Global Development (CGD) Migration and Disaster Recovery initiative focused on improving the flow of migrants between the U.S. and Haiti after the 2010 earthquake. With sound legal analysis and a strategic plan, CGD changed U.S. policy so Haitians could access work visas to the U.S. Our consultants lead site visits to Haiti, developing partnerships with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and Haitian diaspora.
Protect the People is a member of the U.S. Civil Society Working Group on Women, Peace, and Security at the U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP), a group of experts and civil society organizations advising the U.S. Government on the National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security. The plan is based on UN Security Council Resolution 1325, which seeks to ensure that women play an active role in the political processes and security sector reform, and that their needs are taken into account in humanitarian operations including protection from violence.
